Maritz Partners With CLEAR for Identity Verification During Event Registration

ORLANDO — Maritz, an experience-design company, recently partnered with CLEAR, an identity platform, to launch an identity-verification system that has the potential to revolutionize on-site registration for trade shows.

CLEAR’s identity-verification solution was piloted at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy’s (AMCP) annual Nexus Show, held Oct. 16-19, 2023, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, where 2,708 attendees gathered.

AMCP is a professional association that helps patients get the medications they need at a cost they can afford. AMCP’s membership is diverse and includes pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and professionals in life sciences and biopharmaceutical companies.

Before the event, Maritz integrated on-site registration with CLEAR’s identity solution. Unlike CLEAR Plus, the airport subscription, new and existing users can verify for free. Aaron Dorsey, VP of Product Management, Info Security, and Privacy, is the Maritz lead on this project.  At the event, guests could check in themselves at a designated remote space. This option required them to verify their identity with CLEAR, with availability beginning one hour before the opening of the main registration area. Existing CLEAR users verified within seconds by snapping a quick selfie, while new users enrolled for free by completing a few simple steps.

AMCP achieved its goal of offering a hassle-free, on-site check-in experience that reduced wait times without sacrificing security. It allowed guests to print their badges in a satellite location where and when it was most convenient.

“With 17% of attendees opting to verify with CLEAR, registration lines were minimal, ensuring a frictionless check-in experience on-site. Our attendees mentioned how fast and easy the process was, especially as many of them were already familiar with CLEAR. This was a great way for AMCP to demonstrate how we are continuously evolving to meet our attendees where they are and to make sure that their focus remains on networking and learning instead of on-site logistics. We’re looking forward to deploying CLEAR’s identity verification solution more broadly at our upcoming AMCP 2024 in New Orleans,” Beth O’Brien, AMCP Senior Director of Meetings and Conventions, said.

Maritz is exploring the value that could be realized with large-scale, multi-hotel events and exhibitor sponsorship opportunities using CLEAR.
