LAS VEGAS — InfoComm 2024, held June 8-14 in Las Vegas, kicked off in ideal fashion for its pro AV industry attendees — with An Evening at Sphere on June 11, the night before the opening of the trade show. The opening reception for 2,600 attendees was followed by The Sphere Experience, which features Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky’s Postcard From Earth, a sci-fi journey into the future, which starts like a standard movie and evolves into an immersive Sphere experience. Show organizers created sponsorship opportunities for exhibitors around the evening, including the chance to book a VIP suite.

The experience was an ideal fit for the show, as Sphere has been a game-changer for the AV industry. “Sphere is the perfect setting to welcome the pro AV industry, and we have been waiting for this for a very long time,” Rochelle Richardson, CEM, Senior Vice President of Exhibition and Event Services at show organizer AVIXA (the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association), said in a video interview, adding that they had been planning the evening event for almost a year.

That was just the beginning of InfoComm 2024, which brought 36,967 members of the AV community from 125 countries to Las Vegas. International attendance comprised 23% of the total. Of the non-exhibitor attendees, 71% were from the pro-AV channel and 29% were end-users. In the West and Central Halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center, 833 exhibitors showcased pro-AV products and solutions across 407,000 net square feet of exhibit hall space.

“Sphere is the ultimate experiential venue — breaking boundaries in audio and video to deliver an unforgettable spectacle to audiences. It was the perfect way to welcome our community of AV professionals from around the world to kick off InfoComm 2024. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share this exciting experience with our industry,” said David Labuskes, CTS, CAE, RCDD, CEO of AVIXA.

AI was a hot topic this year: The education program featured keynoter Joe Pham, Chairman and CEO of QSC | Q-SYS, who spoke about the opportunity AI brings to the pro AV industry, and AVIXA debuted AVA AI, built by the AVIXA IT department, to help attendees navigate the show floor, education sessions, events, transportation and more.

A variety of off-site tours took attendees to the University of Nevada Las Vegas’ new Engineering Building and Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, as well as HyperX Arena, the Illuminarium and AREA15.

“There are so many elements that go into putting on a show the size of InfoComm— presenters, education partners, exhibiting companies, sponsors and venues. The collaboration of thousands of people makes this show possible,” said Richardson.

InfoComm 2024 is sponsored by Strategic Show Partner Crestron and Supporting Show Partner Shure Incorporated. InfoComm 2025 will take place June 7-13 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
