SAN FRANCISCO — As a busy marketing professional for startups and tech companies, Ellis Messian went to a lot of conferences and could never really keep up with everything going on. Between meeting new people, taking photos of slides and trying to write notes on his phone, he just couldn’t organize everything as well as he wanted to.
Messian knew there had to be a better way to get the most from the events he attended. And when he spoke to other professionals at trade shows, he found he wasn’t alone in this challenge.
Messian co-founded Conference AI, along with Matthew Matze, to address this pain point.
Launched in May, Conference AI is a tool that automatically records and transcribes every session at an event, creating highlights, role-based takeaways and shareable clips. This allows organizers to extend the life of their shows as attendees access text and video session insights on the event app.
According to Messian, attendees report feeling a lot less pain when Conference AI is integrated into an event.
“The general consensus is this is a great way for attendees to go back and share insights with their company and build a business case for why they should attend an event in future years,” Messian said.

Not Just Another AI Tool
There’s no doubt that AI tools have flooded the market in recent years. However, Messian stresses that as event organizers evaluate products for adoption, they should think about which ones are not only going to save time and money, but also help make them money.
Messian says that what makes Conference AI different is it does both.
“Typically, organizers have to send video or audio files to a contractor that clips them so they can create content,” Messian explained. “We found that the time savings and the cost savings from using Conference AI instead of hiring third parties to do all that work is around 70%.”
Additionally, the tool provides an opportunity for organizers to earn post-show revenue because they can create packages of insights and sell them to audiences that didn’t make it to an event.
“It’s not just a nice-to-have tool,” Messian said. “It’s really a tool that is bringing in more money for organizers.”
New Features to Ease Old Pains
Show buyers have pain points that need to be addressed and sellers are no different. Show exhibitors are always trying to make predictions about what audiences want, which can be challenging without the right data.
Later this year, Conference AI will launch a new feature that alleviates this specific business discomfort.

With Stage Intelligence AI, show exhibitors can leverage on-stage conversations to gain invaluable insights that can be used to drive desired business outcomes.
“We found sponsors are willing to really pay for that intelligence, so they know exactly what their target accounts are talking about and what their competitors are talking about. We have a very proprietary way of structuring that data that can drive new business development from different trade shows for these different sellers,” Messian added.
