Birmingham, England – John van Stolk will join the NEC Group in Birmingham (UK) as its Business Development Director on March 1, following a three-month selection process. van Stolk was formerly head of international business development for RAI Amsterdam where he created new products that earned him international industry awards. He joined the RAI in 2001 as a sales manager for the company’s trade shows. He co-founded Amsterdam Convention Circle, a coalition of the RAI and seven hotels, which offered groups an all-in-one package. He also conducted a study on attendance promotion and was heavily involved in promoting the award-winning Strand-Zuid, a canal-side beach. NEC Group chief executive, Paul Thandi, said, “Our strategy is to create must-have products and services within all of our venues, where customers can get as many services as they need and want in-house. …. we believe John will help us achieve this.”
