Chicago, IL – Security Management Group America (SMG America), a provider of security services for trade shows and public events nationwide, has been acquired by United Service Companies (USC).
SMG America, which is not affiliated with the venue management company SMG, is a security provider for major shows such as GRAPH Expo; the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show; International Manufacturing Technology Show; American College of Surgeons; and the SnowSports Industries America Snow Show.
“We are thrilled that SMG America and its ownership team of Mike Marano, Henry Stanton and Greg Ramirez, who have been my long-time friends, will be joining United,” said USC President and CEO Richard Simon. “Collectively, we can better serve our customers nationwide.”
The acquisition adds SMG America to the United team, which has five divisions: U.S. Aviation, United Maintenance, United National Maintenance, United Security and United Temps. SMG will be a division of United Security. United is also the parent company of Trade Show Executive Media Group. United was founded in 1965. The company now operates in every major city throughout the U.S. and serves not only the exposition industry but also many airlines/airports including O’Hare International Airport; over 120 hotels nationally including many of the Hyatt Regency, Hilton, Starwood and J.W. Marriott properties; sports arenas such as The United Center, Phillips Arena and the Rose Bowl; and numerous commercial buildings and schools.
“By joining the USC family, SMG will have the ability to service its customers on a national basis directly and have access to additional resources,” said Mike Marano, vice president of SMG America.
Simon said, “United Service Companies is currently adding new technology and other resources to its portfolio to deliver better security at a cost savings to show management.”
