United Service Companies Achieves GBAC STAR Service Accreditation

Andrea Doyle, Executive Editor

GBACCHICAGO — From the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, United Service Companies (parent company of Trade Show Executive) has worked with the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) — a division of worldwide cleaning industry association ISSA — using its expertise in infectious diseases to develop best practices. United Service Companies has now achieved GBAC STAR Service Accreditation, the gold standard for building service contractors (BSCs) and other outsourced cleaning service providers.

“United Service Companies is extremely grateful for the leadership of ISSA and the impact of the GBAC STAR Program as part of our industries’ reopening efforts,” Rick Simon, President and CEO, United Service Companies, said. “We are happy to receive our accreditation along with so many of our trade show and venue partners. The necessity of being safe and feeling safe is essential to bringing our industry back.”

The newest member of the GBAC STAR portfolio, the program’s Service Accreditation provides third-party validation of a cleaning service provider’s cleaning, disinfection, and infection-prevention protocols and procedures.

“Building service contractors are on the front lines of cleaning, disinfecting and infection prevention of facilities during the pandemic, and many are looking for ways to promote their expertise,” Patricia Olinger, GBAC Executive Director, said. “Expanding GBAC STAR accreditation to these service providers enables them to expand their knowledge of cleaning, disinfection and infection prevention, and to demonstrate to customers and prospects that they can manage risks today and in the future.”

Accreditation is achieved by completing the program’s training requirements and implementation guidelines.

“Cleaning service providers are often responsible for managing cleaning programs or working alongside established custodial teams in facilities like schools, stadiums, convention centers and more,” John Barrett, ISSA Executive Director, said. “Now, BSCs can pursue GBAC STAR Service Accreditation to further enhance their service offerings and complement the GBAC STAR Facility accreditation to which more than 4,000 facilities around the world are committed to achieving,”
