UBM Fashion Re-Sets the ‘Clock’ for 2018 Show Calendar

TSE STAFF

New York –In an effort to meet the evolving demands of a global community of brands and retailers, UBM Fashion this month announced changes to its trade show lineup for 2018.

Key changes include a women’s New York fashion calendar that will align with the New York Fashion and Market weeks in the spring and fall. The first of those, a pre-collections show, will be introduced in June. Anchored by Coterie, these early events are intended to provide the fashion community with a productive central location focused on that key market period.

The second effort will unify men’s and women’s contemporary apparel, footwear options for both men and women and accessories by creating the first dual-gender fashion trade show in New York. The intent is to offer a unified market for brands to connect with their audiences for growth opportunities.

The new schedule for 2018 New York shows includes the existing January Men’s and Women’s market weeks, scheduled for Jan. 7-9 (women’s) and Jan. 21-23 (men’s). Additional events are:

  • Womenswear Show Feb. 26-28 featuring Coterie, Fame, Moda, Sole Commerce and Children’s Club
  • Pre-collections June 10-12 featuring Coterie, Fame, Moda, AccessoriesTheShow and POOLTRADESHOW
  • Dual-Gender show July 22-24 featuring Project Womens, Fame, Moda, AccessoriesTheShow, Project, MRket and the Children’s Club
  • Womenswear Show Sept 15-17 featuring Coterie, Fame, Moda, POOLTRADESHOW, Sole Commerce and Sourcing@Coterie.

UBM Fashion’s shows will continue to be held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, and MAGIC will continue to be offered in Las Vegas in February and August, according to UBM Fashion

In the press release announcing the new schedule, UBM Fashion Managing Director Mike Alic said that the growth of e-commerce and changes in consumer buying patterns led UBM Fashion to conclude it has “a duty to make real changes for our industry.”
