UBM Aviation Acquires U.K. Airline Events Organizer RDG

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

London, England – United Business Media (UBM) acquired Route Development Group Limited (RDG), a British company that offers consulting services and organizes networking events for the airport industry. The deal is worth up to £ 9.3 million (about $14.5 million) and includes £ 8 million (about $12.4 million) in cash and up to £ 1.3 million (about $2 million) in deferred considerations for up to two years. The assets of Manchester-based RDG will be transferred to UBM Aviation, including the World Route Development Forum and five Regional Routes Forum events.

The World Route Development Forum  is held in a different international location each year. It includes modest exhibition space but is billed primarily as a networking event for executives from the airline and airport industries, destination marketers and various suppliers. The 16th edition of the World Route Development Forum will be held September 19-21 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Peter von Moltke, CEO of UBM Aviation, said RDG offered the new owners “a genuinely unique mix of assets which will enhance how we serve the airline and airport markets.”

“RDG’s collective assets will strengthen our position as a global provider of aviation intelligence, events and trade shows,” von Moltke said. “It will create a solid foundation for our global aviation consulting business, and contribute to the company’s future growth.”
