UBM Acquires Partner Seatrade; Streamlines and Expands Presence in Maritime Sector

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Colchester, England – UBM bulked up its events in the maritime sector by acquiring Seatrade Communications Ltd., a British company that produces events and publications in the cruise and general maritime arena.

UBM and Seatrade have worked together on several maritime shows over the years, and the acquisition is seen as a means of streamlining the portfolio and making it easier for customers to navigate.

“The unified portfolio and management structure will create a simplified and stronger global offering for our clients,” said Michael Duck, executive vice president and global maritime director of UBM Asia.

Seatrade will remain based in Colchester. Chris Hayman, the owner and executive chairman of the company, will remain on board.

Seatrade has offices in China, Singapore and Dubai. It organizes B-to-B events and conferences for the cruise industry, general shipping and offshore marine. Offshore marine refers to coastal waters and includes Workboats Middle East in Dubai. It also publishes Seatrade magazine and various annual regional reports.

UBM’s portfolio is led by Cruise Shipping MiamiMarintec China and Sea Japan.
