Tully to Lead Solar Trade Show Venture

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Washington, DC – Exhibitions veteran Brian Tully was named executive director of Solar Energy Trade Shows, LLC (SETS), which will manage the combined events portfolio of two leading U.S. solar energy industry associations.

Formed in October, SETS will run Solar Power International and PV America on behalf of the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). “I’m very excited to play a role in these world-class, international events,” said Tully.

Tully has spent 30 years in the exhibitions industry and is past member of the Trade Show Executive Exposition Forecasting Board. Most of his career was in various executive capacities at the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), where he oversaw the annual FMI Supermarket Industry Convention and took part in the launch of the MARKETECHNICS® technology conference.

Rhone Resch, president and CEO of SEIA, said the solar industry had been looking for someone with growth experience in its search for an executive director of SETS. “Solar is one of the fastest growing industries in America and we created Solar Energy Trade Shows, LLC to support the ongoing expansion of the industry,” said Resch. “Brian’s experience will help to ensure that our trade shows continue to help expand the U.S. solar energy market.”

Solar Power International was launched by SEPA and SEIA in 2004. The 2009 show at the Anaheim Convention Center featured more than 900 exhibitors who reserved a record 203,900 net square feet of exhibit space. The 2010 edition will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from October 12-14.
