TSE Gold 100 Educational Summit Preview: Industry Leaders and Legends To Share How They Drive Their Shows and Organizations Forward

CHICAGO — Trade Show Executive’s (TSE) Gold 100 Awards & Summit is just around the corner, and the educational programming is full of case studies, ideas on innovation and addressing the hot topics, trends and opportunities the industry is facing as it continues its impressive rebound.

Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association, which produces CES, will share his top ten trends in the events industry. An accomplished industry veteran, Shapiro will cover the new frontiers for trade shows, evolving event technology like AI, globalization regarding producing shows, advocacy and consolidation among other topics.

Some TSE Leaders and Legends will also take to the stage to have a candid discussion about navigating the challenges and harnessing the opportunities their teams and the industry are facing. The panel will talk about the momentum of the industry’s rebound, the headwinds and how they’re navigating, along with how they are creatively leading their companies. Moderated by Jennifer Hoff, CEM, CEO at Taffy Event Strategies and President of Trifecta Collective, and featuring Jeff Pressman, CEM, President and CEO of ConvExx; Yancy Weinrich, President, North America at CloserStill Media; and Issa Jouaneh, President, Connections at Emerald, the session will deliver actionable insights and well-rounded look into the state of the industry.

As shows continue to return in a big way, attendee acquisition is top of mind. The panel, featuring Gold 100 Grand Award finalists Tom Gattuso, Vice President of Events at SEMA; Daniel McKinnon, Executive Vice President of Exhibitions & Events at MHI; and Veronika Sonsev, Co-Founder of CommerceNext, will share insights on their struggles and successes in creating FOMO, taking their shows to the next level and boosting attendance. Moderated by Lacey Gautier, Vice President of Events at Informa Markets’ New Hope Network, the session will include information on creative marketing approaches and curating can’t-miss experiences.

In a session that gives an exclusive preview to TSE’s October Power Lunch feature, Mike Carlucci, Chief Operating Officer of Clarion Events will interview Sarin Bachmann, Group Vice President of the RX Jewelry Portfolio. Bachmann will share her journey to success for the iconic JCK show, which under her leadership surpassed pre-pandemic metrics and revenue, while continuing to see immense success. She will explain how the team was able to sell out the 2023 show floor, grow by more than 30,000 NSF and boost their attendance numbers.

Chris Brown, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Global Connections and Events for the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) will take to the stage to discuss how the 2023 NAB Show reorganized its strategy and saw double digit growth with Courtney Muller, President of Manifest and Chief Corporate Development Officer at Connectiv. Brown and his team reimagined the show floor and added experiential zones to foster connections and engagement, which resulted in 20% or more growth across all metrics year over year.

Jordan Tuchband, Group Vice President at RX, will share how the team behind ISC West leveraged data and market intel to make bold decisions that led to an incredibly successful 2023 edition, which saw a 56% year-over-year gain in attendance and a 600% growth of ISC West’s cybersecurity area of the show floor.

Tuchband will then be joined by Marie Browne, Group Vice President at RX, for a conversation exploring the strategy behind their use of data and how industry experience is being combined to fuel new ideas that propel attendee and exhibitor satisfaction, as well as revenue.
