CHICAGO – Trade Show Executive (TSE) took the triple crown in the prestigious 2022 Tabbie Awards, an international journalism competition created by Trade, Association and Business Publications International (TABPI) that recognizes excellence in business, association and trade publications worldwide. Open to publications in more than 40 countries, TSE competed against prominent worldwide publications from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the U.K., and the U.S.
“To see the inspirational ideas of TSE’s leader, Gabi Weiss, transformed into the articles and design of the magazine each month is remarkable. And now, to see the talent of our TSE team recognized internationally is a tremendous honor,” Rick Simon, TSE Chairman and President & CEO of United Service Companies, said. “The TSE team’s hard work and dedication to covering the industry is exceptional and I congratulate them on this hard-won recognition.”
This year, Trade Show Executive took home not one, not two, but three international Tabbie Awards.
“It’s an honor to be recognized internationally and we were up against top B2B magazines. Truly, I am humbled. To win for content on the how pivotal moment when Informa’s World of Concrete Show took place and its impact on our industry, the top honor on our DE&I article, and our focused article on sustainability practices with COVID is important,” TSE Vice President and Editor-in-Chief Gabrielle Weiss said. “This recognition is a testament to hard work and the talent of the TSE team. And, I’m also thankful to highly-engaged readers and the experts we call on for our articles. We would not be able to publish such rich, award-winning content without their voices.”
Number One in the World
TSE was recognized as the top in the world in the How-To category for its coverage on diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I). DE&I continues to be a timely and critical topic in the industry, and TSE put its finger on the pulse and kept it there, winning the gold for its story, “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: More Important Than Ever,” which featured eight ways to create an inclusive team. According to the Tabbies judges, “Tips included here could be incorporated into industries outside the trade show industry — which makes it even more useful to readers!”
Top 25 Worldwide
In the 2022 Feature Article Top 25 Issues category, TSE took home top honors for “Trade Show Industry Comeback Set in Stone; World of Concrete Paves the Way for Other Trade Shows,” a cover story that appeared in the July 2021 issue. (https://online.fliphtml5.com/brun/mtvg/#p=20)
“Gabi and I traveled to Las Vegas to experience World of Concrete (WOC) firsthand while the entire industry waited with bated breath with Covid still such a looming threat. We all were anxious to see how successful the show would be,” Andrea Doyle, the TSE senior editor who wrote the story, said. “The atmosphere was pure magic; everyone from hoteliers to suppliers to attendees were thrilled to meet face to face again.”
Pandemic Covered Extensively
TSE covered the COVID crisis from the beginning, delivering in-depth reporting on the many changes to the trade show and events industry that resulted from the pandemic. Its story, “COVID-19 Makes An Impact On The Environment,” was another winner with its prescient focus on sustainability in the trade show industry entering 2020, long before COVID-19 hit. “It is not surprising that the TSE stories that were honored focused on the rebound of the trade show industry, COVID and sustainability, and diversity, equity and inclusion. These are such important issues that the world and our industry is facing. To observe and report on how these and other issues shape the future not only as we rebound, but evolve, is inspiring,” Weiss said.
