CHICAGO — The Hotel/Convention Center Complexes report, compiled by Trade Show Executive and appearing in the November issue, details convention centers in North America that feature hotels within one city block as well as all-in-one facilities that offer both hotel rooms and space for exhibits within the venue. The 2024 edition of the report provides listings for 313 complexes, and also shines a light on upcoming hotel developments.
One such development is the Courtyard by Marriott Convention Center, being built across from California’s Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center and featuring 144 rooms and 3,600 square feet (sf) of event space. The hotel is projected to open next month. Down the coast, Chula Vista, Calif., will welcome guests to the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center when the hotel debuts in spring 2025. With 1,600 rooms, 140,049 sf of prime exhibit space and 52,302 sf of meeting space this all-in-one venue will be able to host both exhibits and attendees. In Q4 2025, the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel is scheduled to premiere as the headquarter hotel for Florida’s Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. Attached to the convention center, this facility will offer 801 rooms and 73,000 sf of event space. The Aloft Hudson Yards is also planning a 2025 launch, with an exact date to be determined. This property will be across from the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York and will contain 379 rooms and 8,000 sf of event space.

Additions to hotel room inventory will remain consistent in 2026, and the year is projected to begin with the opening of the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach in the spring. The hotel will have 800 guest rooms and will be attached to the Miami Beach Convention Center in Florida. Across from the Las Vegas Convention Center, construction is in progress on the Majestic Las Vegas, which will offer 720 rooms when development is finished in fall 2026. In Indianapolis, the Signia by Hilton is also expected to open its doors in fall 2026, and will offer 800 rooms and a skywalk leading to the Indiana Convention Center & Lucas Oil Stadium.
Several new hotel developments already have tentative opening dates beyond 2026. The JW Marriott Detroit Water Square intends to feature 600 guest rooms attached to the Huntington Place when it opens in Q1 2027. In spring 2027, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas, formerly The Mirage Hotel & Casino, is planning to re-open after closing for renovations and rebranding. Across from North Carolina’s Raleigh Convention Center, the Omni Raleigh Hotel is being built and will offer 550 rooms and 55,000 sf of event space after opening at a yet to be determined date in 2027. Lastly, the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center will have a new adjacent hotel in 2029 when the Omni New Orleans Hotel concludes construction on its 1,000 rooms.
