Los Angeles, CA – Shomex and VarietyCareers.com have teamed to offer two new events this year. The events will focus on career opportunities in the media and entertainment sector. The first is set for April 11 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Designed to focus on the business side of the industry, the career fairs will feature seminars with senior industry executives on how to get a job in the entertainment industry.
“Clients tell us they have a unique challenge in finding people for the business side of the industry,” said Cristopher Levy, vice president of marketing for Shomex. Levy said job seekers often don’t think of the entertainment industry as a place for accounting, legal, IT or engineering jobs. By focusing these shows exclusively on media and entertainment, Levy said the shows seek serve to fill that void. “These will showcase cutting-edge opportunities besides those in acting and writing,” he said. “We believe Variety will give it a unique cache,” Levy said.
VarietyCareers.com aims to introduce more people to its year-old Web site, which is free to job seekers.
Shomex is a leading supplier of recruitment solutions that also stages events in vertical markets for security and defense, and pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. The company was launched in 1984 with one event. Today, it has produced more than 500 events and counts companies like Sony and Blockbuster among its clients.
VarietyCareers is a media and entertainment job site launched in Oct. 2004 by the Variety Group, which publishes some of the entertainment industry’s top publications and is owned by Reed Business Information.
