DANICA TORMOHLEN, EDITOR-AT-LARGE

Chicago, IL – Industry veteran David Sargent has resigned as senior vice president for the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau (CCTB) and will join Freeman as vice president of national sales and exposition services in the company’s Chicago office on January 1. Sargent’s resignation comes on the heels of the recent announcement that Tim Roby, president & CEO of the CCTB for the last four years, will leave the bureau on December 22.

Sargent had worked for the CCTB since 2009. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president, convention sales and marketing, for the Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“I will miss selling the greatest destination in the world but look forward to joining a dynamic industry leader such as Freeman,” said Sargent.  He will be reporting to Joyce Rosinski, general manager of Freeman Chicago National Sales.

Sargent has worked in the convention and hospitality industries since 1984. Before joining the Orlando/Orange County CVB in 2007, Sargent worked as area director of sales and marketing for Hilton Hotels in Chicago. He has also held sales and marketing positions at The Westin New York, Sheraton New York, Sheraton Chicago, Hyatt Regency O’Hare, Sheraton Bal Harbour and Sheraton Washington, DC.
