RX to Launch Hardlines Supplier Event in 2027

LAS VEGAS — RX announced the launch of the Hardlines Supplier Event (HSE), which will bring together retailers, brands, distributors, wholesalers and private label leaders in the hardlines industry, which encompasses durable, non-perishable goods such as tools, appliances, furniture, electronics and sporting equipment.

HSE aims to help attendees uncover new sourcing opportunities, strengthen supply chains, accelerate product development and build the partnerships needed to stay competitive in a rapidly changing market.

Set for March 9-10, 2027, the event will be differentiated by its sourcing-first approach, which combines targeted matchmaking, personalized recommendations, and data-driven introductions to help attendees make meaningful connections faster, for better business outcomes.

“We believe the future of successful B2B events will be less about maximizing the number of people in a hall and increasingly about the quality, relevance and outcomes of the connections we create,” Hector Morfin Chong, CEM, Event Director at RX, said. “That’s what we’re trying to build with HSE.”

An Innovative Approach to Matchmaking

“A traditional trade show often starts with, ‘What products do you have?’” Morfin Chong said. Our approach increasingly starts with, ‘What can you do for my business?’ Products are still incredibly important, but we’re adding visibility into the capabilities behind those products.

“Can the supplier support private label? What are their minimum order quantities (MOQ)? What certifications do they hold? Where do they manufacture? Can they customize? Can they scale? What categories and programs are they equipped to support?

“Then we use that information alongside what buyers tell us they’re looking for. … The model becomes: understand the need; identify relevant capabilities; create the connection; allow the relationship to develop.”

Marketing with Clarity

RX is asking the market to think differently about what this event is for.

For buyers, its message is centered on business outcomes: discovering new suppliers more efficiently, strengthening assortments, diversifying supplier networks, identifying new capabilities and reducing the time required to evaluate potential partners.

For suppliers, instead of simply being about generating booth traffic, the show is being positioned as an opportunity to make their capabilities visible to buyers actively looking for new relationships.

“We’re also being much more deliberate about who we target,” Morfin Chong said. “On the buyer side, that means expanding beyond traditional buying and merchandising roles into sourcing, procurement, private brand, product development, vendor development and other functions involved in evaluating suppliers and bringing products to market.

“On the supplier side, we’re prioritizing manufacturers, original equipment manufacturer/original design manufacturer partners, private-label suppliers, contract manufacturers and other companies with capabilities relevant to those buyers.

RX’s marketing will combine its existing industry relationships and database with new audience acquisition, association and media partnerships, thought leadership, research, account-based recruitment and targeted digital campaigns.

“But ultimately, the best marketing will be demonstrating the quality of who’s participating and the opportunities they’ll find when they arrive,” Morfin Chong said.

Programming Highlights

HSE will include cutting-edge programs such as:

  • A Supplier Review to give them an opportunity to be considered by participating buying organizations.
  • Buyer Recommendations that will use sourcing priorities and supplier capability information to help them identify potentially relevant companies.
  • Supplier Xchange to create structured, themed networking around specific categories, capabilities and sourcing needs.
  • “Become a Supplier” sessions that will provide direct insight into how major retailers and brands evaluate potential partners.
  • An Executive Circle, which Morfin Chong explained represents an important evolution of the traditional VIP model: Instead of building a program primarily around hospitality, participation will be qualification-based and centered on active sourcing needs, curated introductions and meaningful engagement.

The common thread is that programming isn’t separated from the exhibition; it’s part of how we deliver the event’s value proposition,” Morfin Chong said. “The starting point for us was recognizing that buyers don’t necessarily need more suppliers to look at — they need a more efficient way to identify the right suppliers for their business. HSE is being designed around that challenge.”

Before and during the event, RX will work to understand what buyers are looking for, and make that information much more visible and actionable.

“Ultimately, our goal is very simple: efficiency, meaning less time searching and more time having the right conversations,” Morfin Chong explained. “We see the event as the beginning of relationships, not just a two-day transaction. Success is about helping buyers leave with a stronger supplier pipeline and helping suppliers leave with meaningful relationships they can continue developing.”

Future Positioning

Morfin Chong shared that one of RX’s greatest strengths is its ability to bring communities together and create environments where business happens.

“HSE builds that strength but moves further toward measurable commercial outcomes,” Morfin Chong said. “We’re not only asking how many people attended or how many exhibitors participated. We’re increasingly asking: Did we bring the right people together? Did they discover relevant partners? Did we help create relationships that can lead to business? It also allows us to build decades of relationships and knowledge within the hardlines industry while creating an event proposition designed around where that industry is heading.

“For RX, I think that’s an important evolution: using our industry knowledge, customer relationships, data and face-to-face capabilities to create increasingly relevant and productive experiences.”
