Riddle & Associates Produces its Last Clean Show

DANICA TORMOHLEN, EDITOR-AT-LARGE

NEW ORLEANS — Held June 20–23 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the Clean Show drew more than 11,000 registrants to the biennial event that covered 224,500 net square feet of exhibit space. Last December, the show was acquired by Messe Frankfurt from the Clean Show Executive Committee (CEC). Atlanta-based Riddle & Associates, led by industry veteran John Riddle, managed the 2019 event. The Clean Show, which ranked 87 on the TSE Gold 100 Class of 2017, has been managed by Riddle & Associates since 1993, but 2019 marks its last.

“For Riddle & Associates, Clean 2019 was filled with moments of sheer joy and pride,” said Riddle. “At other times, it was very sad that our time with the Clean Show had come to an end.  We are certain that ‘our baby’ is in good hands with Messe Frankfurt. We wish them all the success possible as they take the Clean Show to the next chapter.”

The North American dry cleaning, laundering, and textile care exposition brought together more than 430 exhibitors, including 60 new companies.  In 2019, exhibit space surpassed the square footage of 195,140 that was previously recorded at the last New Orleans edition of the Clean Show in 2013.

The most recent Clean Show, held in Las Vegas in June 2017, was named one of Trade Show Executive’s Fastest 50 Class of 2017. The show was ranked in all three categories of the awards competition: net square feet of exhibit space, number of exhibiting companies and total attendance. The 2017 Clean Show attracted 12,563 attendees and 481 exhibitors covering 221,106 net square feet.

“The Clean Show has proven once again to be the ideal exposition for industry leaders to find the latest innovations in textile care, ranging from industrial machinery and conveyor equipment to computer software and business systems,” said Greg Jira, who takes over as Show Director. “From what we’ve heard from exhibitors and attendees alike, the show was a great success, generating valuable leads while learning how the various products and services can help their businesses thrive in today’s highly competitive market. We can’t wait to host the show in Atlanta in 2021.”

The four-day event offered 30 hours of educational seminars organized by the five collaborating associations, including the Association for Linen Management (ALM), Coin Laundry Association (CLA), Drycleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI), Textile Care Allied Trades Association (TCATA), and Textile Rental Services Association of America (TRSA).

The Clean Show has been added to Messe Frankfurt’s portfolio of textile care expositions, which includes Texcare International, a quadrennial trade fair held in Frankfurt, Germany since 1956, and Texcare Asia & Clean Laundry Expo, a new event that debuts in September in Shanghai.

“Messe Frankfurt Inc. is proud to have the Clean Show join its internationally recognized portfolio of trade fairs for the laundry, dry cleaning and textile service businesses,” said Messe Frankfurt North America President Konstantin von Vieregge. “The right people and the right encounters at the right place is the basis on which we design our events. We are committed and dedicated to providing new opportunities to companies that are ready to showcase their innovations on a global scale and to the attendees looking for business need solutions and educational opportunities.”

With more than 2,400 employees at 30 locations, Messe Frankfurt generates annual sales of around €669 million. With its headquarters in Frankfurt, the company is owned by the City of Frankfurt (60%) and the State of Hesse (40%).

Headquartered in Atlanta, Messe Frankfurt North America Inc. produces 10 shows in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. In addition to Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas, the North American portfolio of events includes Waste & Recycling Expo Canada, Municipal Equipment Expo Canada, Home Textiles Sourcing Expo, Apparel Sourcing USA, and Texworld USA, INA PAACE Automechanika Mexico City, and the Clean Show.

The next edition of the Clean Show will be held June 10-13, 2021 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. In 2023, the Clean Show moves to Orlando.
