Reed Nabs Four Small Apparel Shows with AGENDA Acquisition

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

New York, NY – Reed Exhibitions strengthened its position in the apparel sector with the acquisition of AGENDA, a ten-year-old brand that organizes four shows per year in New York and the Los Angeles area.  The show unites the action sports, streetwear, lifestyle and sneaker culture, while creating a unique environment with an emphasis on style, art, music and culture.

The AGENDA shows take place twice a year at 82 Mercer Street in Manhattan and at the Long Beach Convention Center in the metro Los Angeles area.

The deal finalized in December and announced January 2 gives Reed and its ReedPop group a higher profile in the thriving streetwear industry in two major centers of the apparel industry. “AGENDA is a B-to-B business, but it is also a great fit with what we have developed at our pop culture events,” said Greg Topalian, Reed senior vice president and originator of the ReedPop portfolio.

ReedPop organizes New York Comic ConPenny Arcade Expo and other shows geared toward the popular culture markets.

Topalian told Trade Show Executive there were no plans for immediate changes to AGENDA other than “focusing on adding value to the events and to the customers.”

The possibility of tweaking the show dates and frequency, or moving to larger venues, was something not immediately on the table, Topalian said. “Over time, I am sure we will engage our customers about markets they would like to see Agenda serve,” he said.

AGENDA was launched in 2003 in Long Beach by partners Aaron Levant and Seth Haber. The New York edition debuted in 2010.

Haber sold his interest in the show to Reed in a deal in which he was represented by the Jordan, Edmiston Group, Inc., and will be pursuing other interests. Levant will remain with the show.
