Philadelphia Drops Convention Center Labor-Management Fee

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia announced it would eliminate an 8% labor-management fee charged to trade show organizers this Summer.

The Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority (PCCA) and Elliott-Lewis Corp. reached a Memorandum of Agreement under which Elliott-Lewis would stop charging the fee for providing union workers to show organizers effective July 1.

The PCCA said the step was taken in response to customer feedback and would make Philadelphia more competitive. The agency said at its Meeting Metropolis event this week that additional changes being implemented at the convention center included greater billing transparency and hospitality training for all employees.
