PCMA Launches New Digital Program

TSE STAFF

Chicago—The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) launched a Digital Experience Institute (DEI) to capitalize on evolving technologies and address the needs of next gen attendees seeking improved digital environments. The Institute offers a new take on the group’s previous Virtual Edge Institute by offering the only live, online Digital Event Strategist education course and certification.

The DEI provides digital event producers the opportunity to advance the discipline, strategy and quality of digital experiences such as OnDemand educational content, VR interactive experiences and a variety of live streaming educational events.

DEI will help members find digital and hybrid solutions to event programs, improve their knowledge about virtual events and build skills that could lead to new career paths or jobs with digital and hybrid events. The program certification, designed with input from DEI’s Advisory Board members, will help members plan, produce and measure results of live stream and digital engagement events.

To qualify for the DEI, applicants must be currently or recently employed in the general meetings/conventions/trade show industries; be a member of a professional event management association (or have three years’ experience in a qualifying position); have experience in virtual and digital environments and have 2.5 CEUs in digital-related continuing education programs within 12 months of making application for the programs.

PCMA CEO Deborah Sexton said in a release announcing the program that the DEI is “the latest step in PCMA’s commitment to providing the best digital educational tools and resources for the industry.”
