OCCC Begins Bid Process for $55 Million Renovation

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Orlando, FL – Bids will be solicited in March for a $55 renovation project for the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC).

The upgrades will include the addition of a new ballroom and meeting space in addition to renovations of existing meeting rooms and the concourse area.

The work is part of a larger $187 million renovation project for the OCCC, which was ranked second on the Trade Show Executive World’s Top Convention Centers  directory with 2.1 million square feet of prime exhibit space.

Construction will begin in June and be completed in at the end of August 2015.

The bids were authorized less than a month after the OCCC brought a new general manager aboard. Barbara Bowden, who was previously general manager of The Peabody Orlando and vice president of Peabody hotels, reports to Executive Director Kathie Canning.
