New Program Enables Show Organizers to Trade Away Attrition Fees

RENEE DIIULIO, SENIOR EDITOR

Los Angeles, CA – A solution to the attrition problem plaguing show organizers and conference planners has been launched by housing, travel and registration company, Par Avion Meetings & Conventions, in partnership with Active International, the world’s largest corporate trading company. This program enables qualifying show organizers and meeting planners to alleviate attrition liability by trading rooms for other items in Active International’s inventory of products and services.

Shows or hotels can contact Par Avion when negotiations over attrition penalties have reached a standstill. From there, Par Avion will assess the situation. If it determines that Attrition Solutions is a fit, Active International will structure a deal to buy out the rooms in exchange for currency which can be used to purchase other business products and services from Active’s inventory, which includes media and travel services. Then, Active will place one of its other business customers, many of whom are Fortune 500 companies, in the rooms, resulting in a win-win for both the show organizer and hotel.

Attrition Solutions enables show organizers to avoid litigation and prevents a loss of good will from hotels, says Toby Brenner, President and CEO of Par Avion Meetings and Conventions. Brenner says she was inspired to find an alternative to attrition penalties after 9-11 when many companies were canceling conferences, while others were looking to place meetings. “It made sense to create a way to get them together,” she says.
