Chicago, IL – Merchandise Mart Properties acquired 13 trade shows and 20 conferences in the construction and real estate sector in a deal with York Communications and MediaEdge Communications West announced this morning. Principals of York and MediaEdge will act as vice presidents of the Canada-based division that will be known as MMPC Expositions. Steven Levy, vice president of Merchandise Mart Properties, said the new division would have a combined portfolio of at least 32 trade shows and multiple conferences across Canada and in Seattle and Portland, OR.

MMPC Expositions will be the new owner and operator of the following trade shows: Construct Canada; BC Construction, Construct Alberta and Construct Edmonton; PM Expo; Buildex Vancouver, Buildex Calgary, Buildex Edmonton and PM Springfest; HomeBuilder & Renovator Expo in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton; DesignTrends in Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton; Design Northwest in Vancouver; Infrastructure and Concrete Canada; and Construct Seattle, Buildex Seattle, and Design Trends Seattle.
The new division will continue to be the co-producer with CRCA of the bi-annual RoofTech Show across Canada.
Terms of the private transaction were not released. This purchase, which is expected to close this Quarter, is subject to customary closing conditions. Corporate Solutions, LLC of Westport, CT represented the sellers in the transaction.
