Marketplace Events Buys Two Home Shows from ACS

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Cleveland, OH – Marketplace Events increased its portfolio of home shows by acquiring two events from American Consumer Shows (ACS).

Marketplace Events picked up the Raleigh Spring Home Show and the Raleigh Fall Home Show. It was the second acquisition for Marketplace in recent months, giving the Ohio show organizer 37 home shows in 22 U.S. and Canadian markets.

Marketplace launched the NOLA Home Show in New Orleans in February and acquired three home shows in Kansas City from Pat Riha Productions in August.

Tom Baugh, CEO of Marketplace Events, said the Raleigh market represented “a major growth and strategic opportunity for our company” that would expand the company’s presence in the Southeast. Raleigh, Baugh said, was seeing brisk home construction and had an upscale population base. “It is a great market for the type of home shows we produce:  large scale and high quality.”

Craig Gitlitz, CEO of ACS, said the two shows were on solid footing since their launches six years ago. “I fully expect that Marketplace Events will take them to a different level,” he said.

ACS produces 68 home shows, including seven in four North Carolina cities other than Raleigh.

Baugh said both acquired shows will remain at the Raleigh Convention Center. He envisions increasing their size over the next three years to 70,000 net square feet and 15,000 to 20,000 attendees each.

The next Fall show will be held September 5-7. The Spring edition is February 13-15, 2015.
