Cleveland, Ohio – Marketplace Events has continued its acquisition spree by acquiring the Cincinnati Home & Garden Show from Hart Productions of Cincinnati. It’s the largest single-show acquisition by Marketplace Events and the 14th show acquired by the company since February, 2016 when the company was purchased by Sentinel Capital Partners. Toni Garbo, a former managing editor for WJW FOX8 in Cleveland, was named show manager for the Cincinnati show.
Last December, Marketplace Events acquired six home shows in North Carolina from Southern Shows Inc. Earlier in 2016, the company acquired two home shows in Indianapolis and three shows in Richmond, Va. Last April, it acquired the Calgary Homexpo from CHBA-UDI Calgary Region, a Canadian non-profit.
Marketplace Events produces 38 consumer home shows in the U.S. 14 in Canada and six holiday shows in Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal. Last year, the company added a new division focused on digital marketing, custom printing, branded content and sales support for their customers. It also has a partnership with Cincinnati-based Scripps Digital, which provides digital expertise to all the company’s shows as well as exhibitors at its events.
Marketplace Events CEO Tom Baugh said in announcing the deal that the Cincinnati show has a reputation as one of the finest home and garden shows in North America.
Hart Productions, founded in 1957, will continue to operate six other annual consumer shows in the Cincinnati market in the holiday, boat, adventure sports, golf, baby, children and family sectors.
