Marketplace Events Adds Montreal Home Shows

Montreal — It’s official: home show producer Marketplace Events has acquired the Montreal Home Expo and the Montreal Fall Home Expo.

Marketplace CEO Tom Baugh, the subject of Trade Show Executive’s February “Power Lunch,” called the shows “excellent additions to our Canadian portfolio.” In order to ensure they continue to reflect Quebec’s unique culture, Baugh added, “it is vital they be produced by our longstanding management partners at Expo Media in Montreal.”

With this latest acquisition, Marketplace’s portfolio now includes 63 events in 28 markets. It also brings to 20 the number of new shows Marketplace has launched or acquired since Sentinel Capital Partners bought the company two years ago.

“We have been proud to produce both of these events to the people of Montreal,” said ExpoPromotion, Inc. President Donald Cantin, “and are thrilled to turn them over to an industry leader like Marketplace Events that has the deep knowledge of a large producer but the local knowledge of the Montreal market.”

“The Quebec economy, headed by Montreal, is growing,” Baugh said. “Plus, the region historically supports quality consumer shows.  When combined with our existing Montreal National Home Show (at Place Bonaventure, downtown) this acquisition gives us an enviable position in the market.”
