Marketplace Events Acquires Bilingual Casa Latina Home Expos

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

New York, NY – Marketplace Events plans to aggressively court the Hispanic home show market after acquiring Casa Latina Home Expos, a producer of bilingual home shows in Florida and New York.

Tom Baugh, CEO of Marketplace Events, said the strategy for the new brand was to expand it into Texas, California and various major urban centers in the northern U.S.   We have been exploring the concept of home shows for the Hispanic market for nearly a decade,” Baugh said. “After meeting with Casa Latina’s founders, Nora Diaz-Bretherton and Marlene Pratt, we knew that producing these shows alongside these two dynamic women was the opportunity we had been looking for.”

Pratt and Diaz-Bretherton, who are cousins, will remain with Casa Latina.

The original Casa Latina Home Expo launched in 2013 and takes place annually in New York City. It is expanding into Florida next year with shows at the Miami Airport Convention Center and the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee.

The shows include a heavy presence of Spanish-speaking celebrities and media outlets. All exhibitors are required to have bilingual staff manning their booths.
