TSE talked with Cole Sales, Marketing Manager at eShipping and Founder of Brand Repairman, who was named to PCMA’s 20 in Their Twenties Class of 2023 for the Recognition Program Guide for Young Professionals.
How did you find out about the PCMA 20 in Their Twenties program?
Cole: I found out about the PCMA 20 in Their Twenties program through a mix of industry research and recommendations from colleagues. It was first mentioned in a professional association update, and then a mentor brought it up in a conversation, which sparked my interest. I’m always eager to stay on top of the latest industry topics and trends, and discovering a community like PCMA was an exciting opportunity to further my involvement and leadership in the field.
What was the application process like (time consuming? straight forward? etc.)?
Cole: The application process was fairly straightforward, though it was quite time-consuming. It involved submitting personal information, detailing professional achievements, and articulating my goals and aspirations. Selecting key mentors and colleagues to complete parts of the application added a reflective dimension. While gathering all the necessary materials and deeply reflecting on my experiences took significant time, such a worthwhile recognition deserves the effort. I give credit to the team at PCMA for designing a process that, while demanding, is well-structured and thoroughly guides you through each step.
What gave you the confidence or drive to apply for this program?
Cole: My drive to apply for the PCMA 20 in Their Twenties program was significantly influenced by suggestions from several mentors and industry peers. They encouraged me to explore opportunities like this to become more involved in the industry. Despite dealing with imposter syndrome, their support helped me focus on my accomplishments and the positive feedback I had received. Their encouragement not only validated my efforts but also gave me the confidence to take the leap and apply.
What did you find to be the top two to three benefits or opportunities you received upon being named to the program?
Cole: Being named to the PCMA 20 in Their Twenties program offered several key benefits. First, it provided exceptional networking opportunities, granting access to a network of influential professionals and peers. This has been incredibly valuable for building relationships and uncovering new career opportunities. Additionally, the recognition significantly boosted my visibility within the industry, leading to more speaking engagements and a heightened professional profile. This increased exposure has opened doors to new projects and collaborative ventures.

What was your favorite thing about earning this recognition?
Cole: My favorite aspect of earning this recognition was the chance to connect with like-minded professionals who truly understand the daily duties, responsibilities, and challenges of our industry. Spending several days with individuals who share similar experiences was both validating and inspiring. I continue to stay connected with many of the people I met through the PCMA’s 20 in Their Twenties award—relationships that I might not have developed otherwise. These ongoing connections have been incredibly valuable, offering support and perspective as I navigate my career.
