ARLINGTON, Va. — On May 1, 2026, Kinsey Fabrizio will become President and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™, which owns and produces CES™.
Current CEO Gary Shapiro, who has led the association for the last 35 years, will serve as the organization’s Executive Chair and work closely with Fabrizio.
“My focus is grounded in who we already are and how we serve our industry,” Fabrizio said. “I’m committed to building on the strong foundation Gary has built for CTA. That means staying focused on credibility, consistency and impact. I believe great leaders don’t just bring ideas — they raise their hand to help make those ideas real. I value feedback, optimism and a problem-solver mindset. And like Gary, I appreciate a good challenge and enjoy problem solving. I’ll continue to lead with clarity and care, always focused on our people, serving our members and advancing the technology industry.”
Continuing Innovation and Strength
Fabrizio joined CTA in 2008 and has held various roles, including Vice President of Membership, Senior Vice President, CES and Membership, and, most recently, President.
“I have had the privilege of learning from Gary Shapiro during periods of success and through moments of disruption,” Fabrizio said. “Watching how CES expanded its global influence and rapidly evolved with the technology industry by adding entirely new categories like digital health and advanced mobility taught me the importance of vision and execution. Seeing how Gary led during the economic downturn in 2008 to the COVID pandemic taught me the importance of clarity, resilience and prioritizing the long-term health of the industry over short-term comfort. Those lessons will continue to guide how we lead and how we support our people.

“I’ve spent nearly 18 years at CTA, which has given me a deep understanding of how this organization works, what it values, how decisions are made and what it takes to lead through periods of change. Over that time, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from so many generous and talented colleagues and grow alongside our teams and our leadership — building programs, launching new ideas, navigating challenges and solving problems together. That experience has shaped how I think about leadership: It’s collaborative, it’s grounded in real work, in people, and it’s focused on long-term impact.”
Shapiro shared that he saw Fabrizio’s potential long before this promotion.
“Over nearly two decades, she’s taken on increasingly complex responsibilities across CTA and CES, overseeing core business units and operations, and delivering real growth and modernization along the way,” Shapiro explained. “She expanded CES products, modernized our membership infrastructure and helped bring emerging technology categories and new companies into CTA.
“But this isn’t just about her incredible record of accomplishment; Kinsey has unique skills we need that will take us to the next level. She is a strategist and a problem-solver. She is creative, innovative and focused. She has infectious optimism and people skills that go way beyond those that I possess. Kinsey always does her homework and can establish meaningful relationships in a nanosecond. Working by her side these last few years, I feel 200% great about her ascendancy to CEO. And I believe our entire staff has enjoyed and appreciated our teamwork, and they clearly embrace her as a strong and empathetic leader.
“This transition positions CTA for long-term strength and me for my next chapter. Kinsey has earned this role, and I have complete confidence in her leadership.”

Fabrizio added that CTA is defined by its people.
“We are an incredibly talented team working alongside some of the most innovative and forward-looking companies in the world,” Fabrizio said. “We are an organization built on hard work, collaboration and a strong, customer-first mindset. What truly sets CTA apart, though, is our culture. We operate with urgency, we respond with empathy and we don’t shy away from hard conversations. We value real feedback because it makes us better. CTA is strong because of the trust our members place in us every day, and because of the global credibility we’ve built together over decades.”
Looking Ahead
As Executive Chair, Shapiro will lead the CTA Executive Board and continue to serve as a spokesperson for CTA and CES, advocating for innovation, free expression and policies that support the technology industry.
“This role allows me to remain closely engaged while giving Kinsey and the leadership team full authority to lead day-to-day operations. It’s a structure designed for continuity, stability and long-term vision. It also frees time to mentor, volunteer, help others, sit on boards, write, speak and be with friends and family. I often say that I’m the tech industry’s paid cheerleader. That won’t change. I’ll just be cheering with a lot of confidence in the leadership team that’s driving CTA forward,” Shapiro said.
“CES is the world’s most powerful, most trusted and coolest technology event,” Fabrizio said. “That’s a direct result of the culture of excellence behind it. Under Gary’s leadership, CES set industry benchmarks — from independent attendance auditing to global credibility and transparency. My focus is on continuing that excellence while ensuring CES evolves alongside the industry it represents. That means putting customers first, maintaining trust and supporting the teams who make CES possible year after year.”
