BERLIN, Germany — IFA Berlin, which is billed as the world’s largest home and consumer electronics event, grew in key metrics this year.
The show — which welcomes business professionals and consumers — brought in more than 220,000 visitors and more than 1,900 exhibitors this year, compared to 215,000 visitors and 1,804 exhibitors in 2024. Its number of international exhibitors also grew.
TSE sat down with Leif Lindner, IFA’s CEO, to discuss the growth strategies behind this iconic show, which spanned around two million net square feet at Messe Berlin and showcased hundreds of new products Sept. 5-9.
Growth Factors
According to Lindner, on top of IFA Berlin’s strong global reputation, several organizing tactics helped it grow this year:
1. Momentum From Expanded Thematic Hubs
“We launched the Beauty Hub, which brought together beauty innovation and wellness technologies, from smart skincare to connected devices, highlighting how brands are reshaping personal care,” Lindner explained. “Additional new areas included Outdoor Cooking & Gardening next to the Sommergarten, the Mobility Track and Gaming Specials, which all proved to be crowd pleasers.”
2. Cultural Programming that Gathered Attendees in a Festival-Style Atmosphere

“IFA’s cultural programming also adds another layer of excitement for attendees. The Sommergarten concert series, in particular, has become a signature draw, bringing together thousands in a festival-like atmosphere,” Lindner said.
3. Sustainability Strategies Built in More Systematically Than Ever
The show leveraged a partnership with Cradle to Cradle this year, an NGO that connects business, science, education, politics and civil society, promoting recyclable systems from renewable sources.
“Together at the show we discussed how technology can be rethought — not as a problem, but as an opportunity for innovation and a circular economy,” Lindner said. “Across the show floor and on stage, we highlighted advances in sustainable hardware, recyclable materials, longer-lifecycle devices and repair-first approaches, underscoring IFA’s commitment to shaping a more sustainable tech ecosystem. This integrated approach to programming and partnerships has become part of IFA’s organizing strategy.”
4. Expanded C-Level Programming and Strengthened International Bridges

“Even against the backdrop of global tensions, IFA remains a place where the industry can come together in an open, safe and collaborative environment,” Lindner added. “Creating that space is critical — without it, progress and true innovation stall.
“At IFA, we foster dialogue across borders and sectors through programs like Global Connect, which unites international stakeholders, and the Retail Leaders Summit, where C-level leaders explore how technology, sustainability and shifting consumer behavior are shaping the future of commerce.
“IFA Global Markets provided a platform for OEMs, ODMs, suppliers, retailers and trade experts to come together for the purpose of establishing partnerships, finding production solutions and tapping into new growth markets. By keeping IFA inclusive, solutions-oriented and globally minded, we ensure the show continues to thrive and deliver value for exhibitors, attendees and the broader industry.”
5. Enhanced Appeal to Gen Z

“Combined, these elements have helped IFA cultivate a passionate following among a growing audience of younger attendees as well, especially Gen Z, who value not just the technology on display, but also the community, culture and experiences that surround it,” Lindner said. “Gen Z share among visitors has been increasing steadily in recent years.”
Looking Ahead
In 2026, Lindner expects to build on this year’s momentum with more international participation, new thematic hubs and deeper conversations.
“We’ll continue expanding into fast-growing categories like health, wellness and sustainability, while strengthening our focus on AI, smart living and circular innovation,” Lindner said. “Our goal is not only to showcase the latest devices but to provide a platform where global leaders, start-ups and consumers can explore how technology is reshaping culture, commerce and everyday life. We’re already seeing strong demand from exhibitors and partners, and IFA 2026 will once again claim Berlin as its global stage for technology and innovation.”
