PHILADELPHIA — The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) honored Jonathan “Skip” Cox with its 2021 Pinnacle Award at this year’s Expo! Expo! IAEE’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Philadelphia. The award, one of IAEE’s highest honors, was given to Cox in recognition of his more-than five decades of work in the exhibitions and events industry, including serving as Senior Vice President, Research and Measurement with Freeman and 55 years with Exhibit Surveys, including 25 years leading the company. He is perhaps best known for his work championing the cause of showing the return on investment (ROI) of the exhibitions and events industry.
“Skip is one of the most professional and personal industry executives that I have had the pleasure to work with,” David Dubois, CMP, CAE, CTA, FASAE, President and CEO of IAEE and Co-President of the Exhibitions and Conferences Alliance (ECA), said. “He was indeed a research trailblazer and will continue to contribute, where he can, in his deserved retirement.”
Sam Lippman, President of Lippman Connects and Producer of the Exhibition and Convention Executives Forum (ECEF), Attendee Acquisition Roundtable, Exhibit Sales Roundtable, Large Show Roundtable, and Digital Summit, added, “Skip Cox was a trusted partner and friend for many years. He was a great listener and always knew just what to say to help me and/or my show. Skip was also very generous with his time and his expertise, and the trade show industry has greatly benefited from his contributions.”
The Pinnacle award was established in memory of the late Founder and Past President of IAEE (formerly NAEM) William Hunt Eisenman and is presented by IAEE in recognition of extraordinary achievement in the exhibitions and events management field over the course of the recipient’s career. Winners of the IAEE Awards, which recognize outstanding contributions by IAEE members to the organization and to the exhibitions and events industry, are chosen after careful consideration and review by the IAEE Awards Committee and approval by the IAEE Board of Directors following an open call for nominations by IAEE members earlier in the year.
