IAEE Announces Key Staff Promotions to Boost the Face-to-Face Experience

DALLAS — The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), the largest association of the exhibitions and events industry in the world, announced four key promotions within the organization following the departure of Scott Craighead, CEM, who after 14 years at IAEE is leaving for an opportunity with a destination marketing organization. The promotions are:

  • Lisa Buchanan – Vice President, Engagement and Digital Strategy
  • Hannah Deters, CEM – Director, Event Management
  • Marsha Flanagan, M.Ed., CEM – Senior Vice President, Events and Learning Experiences
  • Stacy Powers – Director, Learning Experiences

 

“IAEE is fortunate to have such amazing talent on our team. When one door closes, another opens, and this was the right time to realign staff to play to their strengths,” IAEE President and CEO, David DuBois, CMP-F, CAE, FASAE, CTA, said. The IAEE team is comprised of 22 industry professionals whose main purpose is to boost the business of face-to-face events and enhance the IAEE member experience.

Lisa Buchanan in her position as Vice President, Engagement and Digital Strategy for IAEE, will be responsible for membership growth and retention. She will also lead IAEE in its digital engagement strategies to enhance the member experience.  Buchanan was previously Senior Director of Engagement at the association, where she was responsible for all membership and chapter initiatives worldwide.

The association noted that it recently completed an extensive digital transformation strategy project and has begun implementation of key processes to better serve its members. “We have long recognized the need to change with the times,” DuBois said.

Hannah Deters, CEM, takes the role of IAEE Director, Event Management, where she is responsible for overseeing the registration database and logistical coordination of IAEE events. She also serves as staff liaison for IAEE’s Young Professional Committee.

As Senior Vice President of Events and Learning Experiences, Marsha Flanagan is responsible for all events and educational initiatives including all certification programs, namely the Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM), Certified in Exhibition Management – Advanced Professional (CEM-AP) and CEM Fellow (CEM-Fellow). Flanagan was formerly the Director of Content Strategy and Development at the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), where she was responsible for steering strategy as well as the development and delivery of all PPAI professional development and editorial offerings.

Stacy Powers is the new Director of Learning Experiences at IAEE where she is responsible for developing and planning the association’s education programs, including the annual Expo! Expo!, IAEE Women’s Leadership Forums and IAEE webinars. Prior to that she was the Senior Education Manager.

IAEE is currently in search of an addition to the marketing team to assist in high-level content development and project management as well as an event coordinator to support the administrative efforts of the events team.
