Chicago – As security detail to Mayor Richard J. Daley in the ‘70s, Richard Simon’s job was to keep the Mayor out of harm’s way and his schedule confidential. He excelled at keeping confidences for the Mayor, but for himself? Not so much. It took a lot of digging by the Trade Show Executive investigative staff, but we recently learned that today, November 27, is his milestone birthday and we decided to blow his cover. He is a former U.S. Marine Sergeant and Chicago police officer. He started his career at United Service Companies during high school as a part-time employee of the small janitorial firm. He rose to fame and fortune as president and CEO, with a continuingly expanding client base including most trade shows, United Airlines, major hotels, convention centers, hospitals, newspapers and food processing plants. He is a past Chairman of the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau and the Secretary-Treasurer for many years. He founded Trade Show Executive Media Group in 2000.
