Gregg Caren Rejoins SMG

TSE STAFF

Atlantic City, NJ — Gregg Caren is rejoining SMG on June 25th as senior vp of strategic business development, following a 10-month stint with Trump Entertainment Resorts in Atlantic City as vp of hotel sales. Caren will expand on many of the initiatives he launched in his eight years at SMG.

At SMG, Caren had been vice president of operations and business development, and prior to that, assistant general manager of the Atlantic City Convention Center, an SMG-managed facility.

Recent media reports place Trump Entertainment Resorts (TER) as “far along” in its discussions to sell to the partnership of Morris Bailey and Dennis Gomes.  Bailey is head of the New York real estate firm JEMB Realty Corp.; Gomes formerly headed the Trump Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City.

However, Caren’s return to SMG was not related to TER’s possible change of ownership.  Word on the street is that SMG had been courting Caren to return for some time, particularly in light of the pending acquisition of SMG by American Capital, which now has closed.

Caren’s return was the latest in a series of news an upward moves within the executive ranks of SMG. The Philadelphia-based  facility management company promoted industry veteran Bob McClintock to vice president of convention centers. Denver-based John Adams was moved up to senior regional vice president while Lew Dawley was named regional vice president. Mark Gatley, John Wilusz and Tim Muldoon were named regional general managers.
