Coppell, TX – Shura Garnett, regional vice president of Global Spectrum, was named the recipient of the 2014 Charles A. McElravy Award by the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM).
The annual award honoring contributions to IAVM and the field of venue management overall, will be presented at IAVM’s VenueConnect in Portland, OR on July 26-29.
“Shura is truly deserving of this recognition,” said IAVM Chairman John Bolton. “She has a passion and energy that inspires others.”
Garnett, who chaired the IAVM board in 2009-2010, is also general manager of the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, MO. She oversaw the construction of the building, which opened in 2005 and annually hosts between two and five charity events with the support of Global Spectrum.
While on the IAVM board, Garnett led the efforts to overhaul VenueConnect and change the organization’s name from the International Association of Assembly Managers to IAVM.
Garnett is also a member of the Trade Show Executive Exposition Forecasting Board, which contributes its expertise and insights to the magazine’s monthly Trending & Spending column.
