SHANGHAIAs the global pet care market surges toward a projected $598 billion valuation by 2033, according to Precedence Research, international pet trade shows are becoming indispensable hubs for innovation and networking in the industry.

The 26th edition of Pet Fair Asia in Shanghai, organized by China-based Globus Events, set a new benchmark for success last August. Spanning 300,000 square meters, the show featured over 2,500 exhibitors, showcasing groundbreaking products and innovations. The event drew a record-breaking 124,000 attendees from 91 countries — a 41.8% increase in international visitors compared to 2023. With international attendees comprising 10% of the total turnout, the fair was the most globally diverse in its history.

Pet Fair Asia 2024 set an attendance record.

“The growth of Pet Fair Asia, on both scale and visitation, was nothing but a testimonial of the pet industry’s confidence towards the Asian markets, despite the current uncertain economic environment,” David Zhong, President of Globus Events and Founder of Pet Fair Asia, stated in a release. “In particular, the overwhelming international participation indicates that China continues to be an attractive market and a crucial player for the industry at international level.”

The show included a hosted buyer program for 100 international buyers from 15 different countries. In addition to meetings and networking, the international buyers had the opportunity to tour a local pet shop and pet hospital.

Beyond the exhibits, more than 40 onsite forums and events took place during the five-day show. Medical care, supply chain, food, e-commerce and retail were featured. The International Pet Industry Summit– Asia CEO Forum included 500 attendees and 25 speakers and panelists. The Asia Pet Food Summit featured 18 speakers and more than 300 attendees.

The 27th edition of Pet Fair Asia will return to Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) Aug. 20-25, 2025.
