Gaylord Rockies Resort Opens for Business

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

AURORA, Colo. – The latest addition to the Gaylord roster of resorts opened its doors in the Colorado Rockies just in time for the holidays.

Family vacations and ski trips, however, won’t be the only high-priority target audiences for the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center. The resort’s large room inventory and 485,000 square feet (sf) of event space are tailored to conferences and trade shows.

“Adding a Western group destination of this magnitude to the Marriott Internationals portfolio allows our organization to leverage existing large conference business demand into the property,” said Mike Stengel, Senior Vice President of Gaylord Hotels at Marriott International. “This spectacular new building will also create new demand in the market with meetings customers who have never before considered Colorado for their events.”

Located in Aurora, about 10 minutes from Denver International Airport, Gaylord Rockies is the fifth resort in the Gaylord portfolio, which also includes properties in the Nashville, Dallas, Orlando and Washington, DC markets. “

The 85-acre property offers 1,501 guest rooms, including 114 suites up to 2,200 sf in size.

Meeting space includes 85 rooms, including 78 breakout rooms, and a 175,000-sf exhibit hall. Among the function areas is the 20,000-sf outdoor Aurora Patio plus three ballrooms.
