Dallas, TX – Freeman expanded its footprint in the Asia-Pacific market by acquiring Staging Connections Group Ltd., an Australian event services company with operations in China, Singapore and New Zealand.
Staging Connections will become part of Freeman’s Audio Visual division, operating under its current brand with Managing Director Tony Chamberlain making the move to Freeman along with some 600 employees based in 15 offices.
The acquisition was approved by the Freeman board of directors last month and by the Federal Court of Australia on October 1. Staging Connections had been in acquisition talks with the U.S. AV firm PSAV this Summer, but a deal was never reached.
Staging Connections has a 30-year track record in offering services to event organizers with a specialty in set design, webcasting and social media, as well as audio visual.
Freeman CEO Joe Popolo said Staging Connections’ presence in the Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific (ANZPAC) market would be a boon to Freeman’s U.S. clients operating in the region. “Our clients are expanding globally and they want the same level of Freeman quality, service and support in markets around the world,” he said. “The acquisition gives us an immediate presence in ANZPAC.”
Chamberlain agreed with Popolo that Freeman and Staging Connections were very similar in how they operate and in their customer-service strategies. “There are a lot of synergies between Staging Connections’ culture and that of Freeman,” he said. “We are confident that we will fit together seamlessly.”
