Feasibility Studies Come Under Fire

TSE STAFF

Washington, DC – Are convention center feasibility studies way off the mark when they encourage cities to expand their convention facilities? According to a report scheduled to be released on Monday by the Brookings Institution, there is currently a glut of convention center space around the country and few cities can expect to capture anywhere near the amount of new business that many feasibility studies promise. In a special report for Trade Show Executive magazine, leading business writer Maria Lenhart will interview Heywood Sanders, the report’s author, as well as a host of industry executives on this provocative topic.   Sanders is a professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio who has long challenged the wisdom behind the nation’s convention center building boom.
