San Francisco, CA – On November 3rd, dmg world media acquired the consumer show management firm, Expressions of Culture, Inc. (EOC). The Chicago-based company produces two high-end art shows — SOFA Chicago and SOFA New York, The Annual International Expositions of Sculpture Objects & Functional Art. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. SOFA Chicago just completed its twelfth run, and drew over 30,000 attendees to Navy Pier. SOFA New York, held in June at the Seventh Regiment Armory, drew 14,000.
“We’re delighted to work with Mark Lyman who has done an outstanding job in building a world-leading show that bridges the fine and decorative arts,” said Mark Carr, Executive VP of Art & Antiques for dmg world media. Founders Mark and Anne Lyman will continue to manage the SOFA shows from their Chicago base.
The events round out dmg’s art portfolio which include PB!, a fully vetted fine art and antique fair, and PB3, an exclusive South Florida art event featuring three art fairs: international galleries presenting contemporary art; classical and contemporary photography; and the best of decorative arts and contemporary design.
