Diversified Communications Bringing Vinexpo to U.S.

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

New York – Diversified Communications has joined a transatlantic partnership that will bring Europe’s long-running wine exhibition, Vinexpo, to the U.S. next year.

Vinexpo New York launches March 5-6, 2018 in the 45,000-square foot River Pavilion at the Jacob K. Javits Center. It will bring the well-established Vinexpo brand to the largest wine market in the world.

“We’re excited to combine forces with Vinexpo to bring the international world of wine and spirits to New York – the trade capital of the U.S.,” said Diversified Executive Vice President Mary Larkin.

Vinexpo has been in existence since 1981 when it launched in France’s Bordeaux region.  The next edition of the show takes place this June and is projected to draw 2,300 exhibitors and approximately 48,000 attendees.

The brand expanded to Hong Kong and Tokyo in 1998 and is now set to move into the U.S. “The time is right to bring Vinexpo to the rich U.S. market, which leads the world in wine consumption and whose influence only continues to grow,” said Vinexpo CEO Guillaume Deglise. “Vinexpo New York will present American buyers with an unmatched opportunity to experience, on their own turf, wines and spirits from international markets.”

Vinexpo said research showed that the U.S. imports around 1.1 billion bottles of wine annually and that the volume will increase 6.9% by 2024.

Deglise said show organizers expected name recognition to attract a high-quality crowd of attendees. “The Vinexpo brand is attractive to the many American buyers who already come to Bordeaux,” she said. “We know the main U.S. importers, distributors and retailers will attend. We’re also setting our sights well beyond the East Coast, since we’re targeting the states that account for 80% of wine imports by volume.”

Exhibitor registration for Vinexpo New York opens in September. Options include space rates as low as $5,000 to attract smaller players in the wine industry along with the major producers.
