Cygnus Business Media Tests Strength of Agricultural Group with Offer to Sell

TSE STAFF

Ft. Atkinson, WI — In response to periodic inquiries from interested parties, Cygnus Business Media has put its agricultural trade shows up for sale. “We chose (these) due to their success and profitability,” said executive vice president of the agriculture, technology and transportation group Gloria Cosby. “They are highly successful shows,” she added.

The sale also would include two print properties, FEED & GRAIN magazine and FeedandGrain.com and the Case IH Farm Forum, a print and digital content vehicle for the Case IH dealer/distributor network.

Cosby said the agricultural group has been priced at a “very high value” and that if a commensurate offer isn’t forthcoming, it is possible that the company would take the offer off the table. She compared the move to a homeowner testing the market by offering a home for sale, but then removing it from the market if the offers don’t meet expectations.

Shows under the agricultural umbrella include: the Interconnectivity Conference in Altoona, IA; Farmfest in Redwood County, MN; Dakota Fest in Mitchell, SD; Amarillo Farm & Ranch Show in Amarillo, TX; and Northern Illinois Farm Show in DeKalb, IL. Northern Illinois Farm Show was held in January this year. For the others, it’s “business as usual,” for the already-scheduled 2013 shows, Cosby said.

Other components of Cygnus Business Media are not currently on the market.
