DETROIT — The floor plan for the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) at Cobo Center is expanding to include areas surrounding Cobo and extending into downtown Detroit when its annual January show shifts to June in 2020.
The date change and expansion have been in the works for more than a year as organizers aim to “provide a fresh international platform for hundreds of brands to highlight their innovations.”
“The move to June 2020 for the North American International Auto Show creates the template for events in Cobo Center to expand their footprint farther into downtown Detroit and access more of what this transformative city has to offer visitors,” Cobo Center general manager Claude Molinari told Trade Show Executive. “Attendees will be able to engage in new driving experiences as the exhibits and AutoMobili-D [an event launched in 2017 to focus on “the rapidly evolving global automotive and mobility landscape”] and showcase many innovative start-ups will become more hands-on. The new NAIAS will indeed make summer in the Motor City a top international destination.”
