NEW YORK CITYCloserStill Media announced it purchased a majority stake of CommerceNext, a U.S.-based company focused on ecommerce conferences and community.

The partnership provides both companies with the opportunity to grow, with CloserStill Media expanding its presence in the U.S., and CommerceNext gaining the support and guidance needed as it continues on its path of fast growth.

“CommerceNext is a very good fit strategically for us, as we currently operate several shows in the ecommerce and marketing tech sectors in London, Barcelona, Madrid and TechWeek in Singapore. With the synergies between the events, we can quickly leverage the commercial knowledge that both groups have to scale quickly,” CloserStill Media President, North America Yancy Weinrich said. “It fits very nicely into our existing Marketing Tech Ecommerce Vertical portfolio, and allows us to expand our footprint in the U.S.”

Founded in 2017, CommerceNext has a community-led portfolio that delivers an event series and conferences for marketers at retail and direct-to-consumer brands, including its annual The Ecommerce Growth Show, webinars, executive dinners and networking events among others. During the pandemic, it successfully launched and grew a number of virtual events, keeping the communities it serves connected and informed while face-to-face events weren’t possible.

“Like many growing companies, CommerceNext was looking for a partner to help them expand sales, marketing, and back-office functions like HR and finance that come with being a bigger company,” Weinrich said. “This partnership is much bigger than adding back-office functions, however. CloserStill Media oversees the world’s biggest ecommerce community and now has a presence the U.S. market.

“CommerceNext is ready for the next step as they look to grow, so being able to leverage CloserStill Media’s capabilities, people and knowledge of how to scale, was a natural progression for them.”

According to Weinrich, other advantages of the partnership are providing employees with better benefits and career opportunities, as they get the chance to move within the different event portfolios.

“Joining forces with CloserStill Media gives CommerceNext the resources to deliver even more value to our strong conferences and events and for our growing community of ecommerce executives,” CommerceNext Co-Founders Scott Silverman, Veronika Sonsev and Allan Dick said. “We look forward to tapping into CloserStill Media’s deep experience in delivering best-in-class business conferences to bring more value to the CommerceNext community.”

CommerceNext’s 2023 The Ecommerce Growth Show will be held June 20-21 at the New York Hilton Midtown
