Paris – European trade shows increasingly are taking part in a program that uses certified statistics from trade shows for an annual report of data used to identify trends in regional and global markets.

The latest edition of the Euro Fair Statistics report, published annually by UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, offers certified statistics from 2,590 exhibitions that used 27.4 million square meters (294.9 million square feet) of exhibit space in 2016 and provides other certified data about shows held in 25 countries in the European exhibitions market.

The events included in the report hosted 724,488 exhibiting companies during 2016 and drew a total of 71.6 million visitors. Trade shows drew 38% of these visitors, while public shows represented 30% of the total; shows targeted more broadly to both trade and public sectors made up the remaining 32% of attendees.

In all, the new data indicates there was a 7% increase in the number of events and an 11% increase in the amount of space rented in 2016 compared to 2015.

In releasing the 2016 news from certified exhibitions, UFI Managing Director Kai Hattendorf said, “We are pleased to provide this large scope of data compiled from 14 bodies who manage a rigorous certification process.”

This and other UFI studies strive to provide neutral, certified data that assists industry groups seeking to identify trends on regional and global levels.
