HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Dallas, TX – The chief executives of five associations for the exposition industry will hold annual meetings to discuss joint efforts on issues impacting exhibitions. The first of these meetings will take place in June in Washington, DC and will include the chief executives of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE); the Exhibition Services & Contractors Association (ESCA); the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO); the International Association of Venue Managers, Inc. (IAVM); and Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI).

The participants will work on united cooperation in industry-wide areas of interest, including industry advocacy, best practices, safety and security, and education. Larry Arnaudet, executive director of ESCA, said the formal agenda was being drafted and would be made public at a later date.

“We believe the convention, exhibition and events industry is poised to take advantage of additional growth and development resulting from increasing global trade, the advancement of new technologies and heightened awareness of the unique power that face-to-face business communications delivers through events,” the organizations said in a written statement.
