WASHINGTON, D.C. — The decision made by Destinations International, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and PCMA to bring four of their events together in one location could become a model for some show organizers.
Known as Business Events Industry Week and to be held March 23-25, the inaugural event will consist of the following events, all scheduled to take place at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
· March 23: Destinations International’s Convention Sales and Services Summit, as well as a series of PCMA leadership meetings
· March 24: IAEE’s Women’s Leadership Forum and the PCMA Foundation’s Visionary Awards
· March 25: Destination Showcase, a joint venture between Destinations International and PCMA
The combined schedule — which is expected to draw upwards of 3,000 business event organizers from associations and corporations, destination organization professionals and industry suppliers — is being billed as “a week dedicated to community, commerce, content, awards and advocacy in order to unite the global business events industry, and to reinforce the power of business events to advance economies and social good.”
“Having these major industry events coinciding together in one week makes perfect sense for finding the best way to accommodate busy schedules,” David DuBois, CMP, CAE, FASAE, CTA, IAEE President and CEO, said. “Collaboration has never been more important and time has never been more valuable.” The organizers also plan to add additional events to the week each year.
