SHANGHAI, China – The automotive industry is gearing up for the 18th edition of Automechanika Shanghai, to be held Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. Organized by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and the China National Machinery Industry International Co Ltd (Sinomachint), the show this fall will mark the first time since 2019 that global buyers and suppliers can meet in-person in Shanghai.
As China makes its mark as a hub for new energy vehicle solutions and next-generation technologies, the show will include an Innovation4Mobility Showcase to spotlight the global shift toward sustainability and reinforce areas of the supply chain that are evolving. The March 2023 Automechanika Shanghai – Shenzhen Edition edition of the show also featured an Innovation4Mobility Showcase.
Following the success of Automechanika Shanghai – Shenzhen, Fiona Chiew, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, said, “The Innovation4Mobility Showcase was a triumph as it offered a wider perspective on new mobility solutions, market trends and policy updates. Showcases and discussions also echoed the focus on next-generation technologies from exhibitors across the show floor. For the show’s return up north in November, we will further build upon the concept to act as a window into tomorrow’s industry.”
Expectations for the upcoming Shanghai show are for a total of 4,800 exhibitors across 280,000 sqm of exhibition space, which is an increase from the March 2023 Shenzhen edition which featured 3,302 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions and covered 220,000 sqm of exhibition space. The Shenzen edition featured 106,383 from 89 countries and regions.
Considering the transformation in the automotive ecosystem toward sustainability, the international automotive community is expressing a great interest in China’s advancements in new energy vehicles and innovative mobility solutions. Organizers are seeing an influx of exhibiting enquiries from international participants, including companies from 32 countries and regions, such as Australia, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Türkiye, the U.K., and the U.S.
The Shanghai show’s Innovation4Mobility Showcase is set to not only highlight technological breakthroughs but also upgrades in traditional solutions. For instance, the displays at the new Future Mobility Area will focus on rising business opportunities developing from new energy vehicles and connectivity. Meanwhile the new Customizing x Tech Area will feature a collection of customized cars, car wrapping, accessories, infotainment, lighting, and products for driving activities like car camping.
The Innovation4Mobility Mainstage and Green Repair Area will also return, featuring integrated facilities for product displays, start-ups and networking. Lectures will touch upon the hottest topics on car technology and mobility solutions.
Automechanika Shanghai is also arranging factory visits to car manufacturers in the buildup to the show for both local and overseas participants. During these activities, manufacturers will share insights on new energy vehicle development and solutions for autonomous driving, offering opportunities to share knowledge about trends that are heavily influencing automotive transformation.
In addition, the show will return with a full lineup of conferences, seminars and workshops. These include the International Automotive Industry Conference 2023 Powered by Automechanika Shanghai, Tomorrow’s Service & Mobility Summit, and Automotive Aftermarket Summit. Aside from future technologies, speakers are set to address global challenges relating to energy, sustainability, the supply chain, infrastructure and skilled labor.
Next year, the brand’s flagship show, Automechanika Frankfurt, will take place Sept. 10-14. Messe Frankfurt’s Greater China offices will also produce Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City June 20-22, 2024 and Automechanika Kuala Lumpur May 8-10, 2025.
