Australia’s iMAT Digital Ad Show Acquired by dmg

TSE STAFF

San Francisco, CA – dmg world media has acquired the iMAT, Interactive Marketing & Advertising Trends, from Interpoint Events.

The 2006 version of iMAT opened July 20 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center. The show made its debut last summer, drawing 400 attendees and 20 exhibitors.

Despite its relatively small size, iMAT was seen by Mark Carr, the head of the dmg Technology Group, as a show that not only held potential for growth but also expanded dmg’s beachhead in the Land Down Under.

The addition of iMAT to dmg’s Technology Group dovetails with the pending launch of the new Australian version of dmg’s ad:tech event at the Sydney Hilton Feb. 7-8, 2007.

Both shows will be under the supervision of Mark Abay and Beth Etling-Lee, who will be based at dmg’s Sydney office, and Show Director Paul Beckley in California.

The purchase is the latest acquisition for dmg, which last month acquired Evanta, Inc. and its CIO Executive Summits series along with the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference. Late last year, dmg picked up iMedia and Expressions of Culture, Inc., producers of the Sculpture Objects & Functional Art (SOFA) shows in New York and Chicago.
