ASAE’s Technology Conference & Expo Next Month Offers an Important Look at the State of Technology and New Opportunities

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Washington, DC – ASAE, The Center for Association Leadership, expects to draw 1,100 attendees to the ASAE 2012 Technology Conference & Expo December 4-6 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

The event offers updates on the latest IT advances for the association management and the exhibition industry, particularly for technology, membership and marketing staffs. It features 40 educational sessions, 15,000 net square feet of exhibit space, and extended exhibit hall hours. Exhibit hours were moved back to a two-day schedule this year with dedicated hours in the middle of both days.

The sessions and the exhibits will cover specific technologies for associations and their meeting planners, including social media, mobile content and cloud computing. The Technology Town Hall will examine the current state of technology in associations and its implications for the future. Attendees will also have the opportunity to vote on the most important trends they see emerging on the IT front.

The conference begins December 4 with the third annual CIO Summit, which will focus on the changing role of the chief information officer in association operations. The speakers include author and social-media expert Brian Solis, who will address the opening general session. The closing keynote will be Dion Hinchcliffe, executive vice president of The Dachis Group, who will provide an overview of several technology areas that are influencing marketing and brand positioning for companies.

The conference takes place the same days as the International Association of Exhibitions & Events holds its annual Expo! Expo! for trade show and convention organizers in Orlando.
